Dear Friends,

After five years of low water during the spring and summer months, it has been a joy to see this year’s rainfall bring a welcome return of salmon in better numbers. While the anglers celebrated, it has been a more challenging year in the fields, although one memorable week in late April provided just the right balance – enough water for the river and dry conditions for tractors to work the land. Bemersyde is a vibrant estate, supported by a diverse range of activities. From our permanent residents and holiday visitors to local and international anglers, the estate thrives on the energy and connections they bring. Equally vital are the employees, agents, and local tradespeople who maintain and manage the estate, ensuring we meet the many regulations governing agriculture, lettings, and conservation. This year has seen significant achievements, including the re-roofing of the north roof of the east wing of the main house – a true masterpiece using Welsh slate, crafted to last another century. Bemersyde also earned accolades, winning "Fishing Beat of the Year" as featured in Trout and Salmon Magazine, and was highlighted in Scottish Field's Luxury Edition. We welcomed visitors from across the UK and abroad, hosted archaeologists from around the world, and served as the stunning backdrop for a publicity shoot celebrating a new musical composition for the River Tweed. As ever, we are grateful for the many visitors and contributors who make Bemersyde the special place it is. Thank you for being part of this journey with us.

With warm wishes,

Earl & Countess Haig
