2019 International Year of The Salmon

In 2019, International Year of the Salmon, The Tweed Foundation is starting a new study to track the migration of our Salmon Smolts down the river to assess the number of Smolts reaching the sea.

The Salmon Smolt is the final product of the river and losses at this stage of the life cycle cannot be replaced.  With numbers of returning adult Salmon continuing to decline, it is important to make sure as many Smolts make it to the sea as possible and understand how barriers prevent Smolts from reaching the sea and how do river levels affect Smolts survival.
